To celebrate the 50th anniversary of NASCAR in 1998, NASCAR announced its “50 Greatest Drivers of All Time,” as chosen by a panel of 50 people from all corners of the NASCAR community. The living members of the list were honored during the pre-race activities for the 1998 Daytona 500.
