In the family: He is the son of former Indy car driver Roger Mears, and the nephew of four-time Indy 500 champion Rick Mears.

Career highlights:

• Mears began his Cup career in 2003 and since then has recorded one Nextel Cup Victory coming in the 2007 Coca-Cola 600. Many regard him as a talented driver with lots of potential, but has left many more disappointed with his lack of results in the Cup series. That disappointment is starting to turn around for some, if not many. Mears has never finished higher than 22nd in the points. In 2009 he switched to RCR's fourth car. Marking the fifth year in a row he has driven a different car.
