Career highlights:
- McMurray got his start in the Busch Series, where he drove the #27 car for Brewco Motorsports in 2001 and 2002.
- In 2002, McMurray came to prominence after he replaced an injured Sterling Marlin in the Cup series, and won in just his second start, which remains his only win.
- McMurray became a regular in the Cup series in 2003, and won Rookie of the Year honors driving the #42 car for Chip Ganassi racing.
- McMurray just missed the inaugural Chase for the Championship in 2004, finishing 11th in the points.
2006 so far ... In 2006, McMurray moved to the powerful Roush Racing team to drive the #26 car. He was initially slated to take over Mark Martin’s #6 car, but driver shuffling forced Martin to delay his retirement another year and McMurray moved to the #26.
McMurray dated Cielo Garcia, a former Miss Winston for several years, but the two split up in 2004.
