Daytona Beach, FL Recently the Daytona Beach News Journal wrote an article featuring a lovely historic home located in the beachside community of Daytona Beach, FL. Some little known, but very interesting facts have been discovered about this home and its former owner, Louis Ossinsky, who was also the attorney for Bill France at that time. The story is told by Lous Ossinsky, Jr., who is currently a resident of Daytona Beach and practices law there, just as his father did. Louis, Jr. grew up in the house, located at 242 N Peninsula and tells us of a time when Bill France owned a filling station across from his father’s law office. Bill had been racing on the beach and wanted to make it “official” so he met with Ossinsky Sr. and they decided to incorporate NASCAR. The papers were drawn up and signed in the very dining room of the peninsula home and the rest is history. Louis Ossinsky took shares in NASCAR as payment for his services, but later sold those shares back to the France family. The home has been put on the market by the current owner, Michael Fisher. Mr. Fisher, a long time resident of Daytona, is downsizing and relocating to another state. He uncovered most of this information after he put the house on the market and with the help of his Realtor, Candace Curtis, been trying to dig up more information about the home. Two articles have been written about this house locally and Michael would like to get the word out to a broader base of NASCAR fans, hence this article. The home is located on a high, corner lot just a few blocks from the “World’s Most Famous Beach” (Daytona Beach) and just a few blocks to the west is the intracoastal waterway, also known as the Halifax River. The home was built in 1926, it holds all the charm of an historic residence, but with many updates and all the modern conveniences. The back yard is very large and has a small outbuilding that might be a workshop or guest house. There is a detached, 4-car garage at the rear of the property for all those toys. This home is priced to sell at $248,700 and the owner is willing to review any and all offers. I am one of thousands of moms who think their child can make it to the big time. I look at the drivers' lists for the Cup, Nationwide, and Truck series and see there are maybe a 100 names of drivers lucky enough to have proven themselves or will get a chance to prove they have the ability to get around the track with the "Big Boys". It is then I start to doubt my son's name will ever make the list....but that nagging voice of "just maybe" rears it head and I am on the computer again looking for sponsors. I always laugh at myself...racing is a sickness!! and I have it BAD!
Driving has always been in Kyle's blood. My husband drives truck and as soon as Kyle was potty-trained, he was allowed to go with his dad on short trips. Kyle loved the "big whoa-whoa tuck". Soon, Kyle was steering the truck through the lumber yard sitting on his dad's lap....then with a slap of his knee, my husband would allow Kyle to steer the truck up the hills in the slow gears. Kyle made sure his little fat hands would keep the truck between the lines. Those two had a great time...and Kyle knew every little convience store to get his goodies in. When Kyle was 8, we found out about go-karts. Eight years of fun, fantastic racing in QRC Outlaw go-karts and then we graduated to ashalt late models, then to ASA Speed Trucks, then Super Late models, and finally to NASCAR Camping World East cars. We thought we had it made, but lost our sponsor at the beginning of the season. So, I have come up with an idea I would like to share....sponsorship by the true fans of racing.
