Career highlights: Newman is known for being one of the most knowledgeable and consistent drivers. He holds a degree in Vehicle Structural Engineering from Purdue University, and is very involved in the mechanical aspects of his racecars.
- Newman was the 2002 Rookie of the Year in the Cup series, and has 12 career victories, including eight wins in 2003. He is considered the premier qualifier in NASCAR, with 34 poles in his career.
- He has finished in sixth place in the standings on two separate occasions, 2002 and 2003, and is considered a strong contender to someday win a Nextel Cup championship.
Trivia tidbit: Ryan and his wife, Krissie, operate the Ryan Newman Foundation, which works with animal shelters and humane societies to provide for unwanted dogs and cats. The couple owns several rescue dogs.

I just listened to Newman's alltel racing podcast and a fan asked him what makes him nervous. Newman said not his wife flying helicopters, but at track crashes and fires because he can't control them. I geuss that makes sense.
Newman's crew chief Mike Nelson said Ryan's in Canada fishing...which probably helps take his mind off racing. anyways if you wanna listen to what else newman and nelson have to say go to alltelracing.com |

Carefull,,, Morgan Shepard is going to be finishing ahead of you like everyone else is now ! What happened Ryan only interested in the Pole ? The only time you race is to catch up to someone who cut you off to crash them out. Hey may your in the way out there maybe try some bush races again !

you on some new drugs ? unhappy at home ? alchohol problems ? staying up spankin stewarts monkey ? I don't know what the problem is but you are turning into a kyle Petty and just turning laps. In other words you have started the downwards spirol into suckville. Sponsor problems will be next then team problems. Change something boy cause you are sucking exhust fumes !!!
