The Craftsman Truck Series

The Craftsman Truck Series began in 1995 as the SuperTruck Series, and is now considered to be the NASCAR equivalent of AA.

The idea for the trucks began in 1993 when a group of off-road racers made a prototype for a NASCAR-style pickup truck, which was demonstrated the following year at the Daytona 500. The trucks were quite popular, and the truck series was born.

In 1996, the series picked up Craftsman tools as its title sponsor and changed its name.

The series has become a place for young drivers to get their start in NASCAR, as well as a place where former Cup veterans go to finish out their career.
